WE DID IT!!
It's unusual for a small start up like ours to rent a retail space for several months & stock it exclusively with our own products, ones we imagined, designed & created ourselves.
When I think about it, I guess it is. It’s something I haven’t seen makers do very often & most retail stores are only able to resell products, so to do both has to be an achievement, I suppose you could say ‘we did it!’
In one way we’ll be glad to have more time back in our life & some time in the workshop as it’s difficult to do both. It will give us a chance to get back to what we do best... designing & innovating!
On the other hand, we will really miss our little shop & all the fantastic customers we’ve got to know over the last 3 months. What was originally a marketing exercise to become better known within our own locality, turned out to be so much more.
Most pop-ups are short, lasting maybe a week or two, we rented the shop for 3 months, much longer than normal. We opened at a dead time of year October & rented into January, another quiet time. So we weren’t in it for a fast buck as they say!
We plan to do some smaller pop-ups throughout the year, and if you’re interested in following our journey, we will of course keep you up to date👍🏻
